Student Research Initiatives

Our students participate in Howard University's Annual Research Symposium, showcasing their talent in the research category of Creative Arts and Design. These types of activities extend the design inquiry and design thinking process that the students participate in through studio and lecture courses.

Under the direction of Professor Nea Maloo, six students (and Prof. Maloo) participated in Howard’s Research Week in April 2017 with one of our students, Huy Bui, selected for the Overall Award for the Creative Arts and Design category.

Department of Architecture Hosts ARE 5.0 Workshop with NOMA, NCARB and DCRA

The Department of Architecture hosted a workshop on the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) and the path to licensure, in collaboration with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) on November 14, 2018. The workshop was facilitated by representatives of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Agency (DCRA) Board of Architecture, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture. AIA President Carl Elefante Talks about Architecture’s Relevance Revolution with Our Students

Carl Elefante, FAIA, president of the American Institute of Architects delivered a powerful talk on “Architecture’s Relevance Revolution” on Monday, October 15 in our Innovation Space. Elefante is Principal and Director of Sustainability for Quinn Evans Architects, which has offices in Washington, D.C., Ann Arbor and Detroit, Michigan, and Madison, Wisconsin. He serves as design principal for a broad spectrum of projects including architecture, historic preservation, and community revitalization. Read More >>
